Dedication and open house to be held for Archer Family Health Care

October 12, 2007

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The UF College of Nursing will host a dedication, ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for Archer Family Health Care, a nurse-managed comprehensive health care center. The 2 p.m. event on Oct. 12 will be held at Archer Family Health Care, 16939 SW 134 Ave., Archer, Fla. Tours will follow the dedication and refreshments will be served. Community health nursing students will provide blood pressure screenings.

Archer Family Health Care, which has been in existence since 2001, recently moved from a small historic house to an expanded facility in downtown Archer. The new location triples the amount of patient-care space.

Featured speakers include Paula Delaney, chair of the Alachua County Board of Commissioners; Sam Clarke, vice-mayor of the city of Archer; representatives from the offices of Rep. Larry Cretul and Sen. Steve Oelrich; Kathleen Long, dean of UF’s College of Nursing; and Russell Armistead, UF associate vice president, Health Affairs.

The event is open to the public.
