WUFT-TV/DT's "GatorBeat" tackles Gator football

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — As the University of Florida Gators begin their pursuit of another Southeastern Conference and National Championship title, fans can tune in WUFT-TV/DT for a look at the 2007 football season.

“GatorBeat,” a production of UF public television station, WUFT-TV/DT, will premiere at 8 p.m. Thursday. The program will be rebroadcast at 8 a.m. Saturday. Viewers can also watch via streaming video at http://www.wuft.tv.

Hosted by WRUF-AM/FM Radio Sports Director Steve Russell and Gator Bait Editor and General Manager Marty Cohen, GatorBeat offers an overview of the 2007 football. The show will provide updates on the players and staff, as well as commentary from statewide sports writers.

A new half-hour GatorBeat show will air each week during the season at 8 p.m. on Thursdays (and rebroadcast the following Saturday at 8 a.m.) The weekly episodes will review the most recent game, preview the upcoming game and will feature interviews with assistant coaches.

The Orthopaedic Institute in Gainesville is the underwriter of the weekly series.

WUFT-TV, Analog Channel 5 and WUFT-DT, Digital 36, is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and a public and educational service of the University of Florida. The studios are located in the College of Journalism and Communications.
