Summer commencement ceremonies scheduled for Saturday

WHAT: University of Florida summer commencement ceremonies

WHO: About 1,200 University of Florida graduates are expected to participate in three ceremonies, based on regalia orders as of Aug. 7. They represent about 42 percent of the 2,842 students who are receiving bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.

WHEN AND WHERE: 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday in the O’Connell Center.
Students from the following colleges will participate in the morning ceremony: Agriculture and Life Sciences; Business; Design, Construction and Planning; Engineering; Fine Arts; and Health and Human Performance.
Students in the following colleges will participate in the afternoon ceremony: Dentistry; Education; Journalism and Communications; Nursing; Liberal Arts and Sciences; Medicine; Veterinary Medicine; and Public Health and Health Professions.
A separate ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. for the College of Pharmacy in the Health Professions, Nursing and Pharmacy Auditorium.

PROGRAMS: The student speaker accepting an Outstanding Female Leader Award at the 10 a.m. ceremony is Ann Adams of Jacksonville, Fla. Charles “Chip” Hinton will receive the Distinguished Alumnus Award. Students being recognized at the afternoon ceremony are Ashley Mitchell, who will receive an Outstanding Female Leader Award; Andrea Naccarato, who will receive an Outstanding Four-Year Scholar Award for her 3.98 GPA; and Hyun Jung Yun, who will be acknowledged as the first student to receive two doctoral degrees in the same semester at the University of Florida. Lawrence Dodd will receive the Teacher/Scholar of the Year Award.
