Art faculty exhibition opens Aug. 21 in University Galleries

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — In the first show of the 2007-08 academic year, the College of Fine Arts’ art faculty will set the standard for future exhibits at the University of Florida University Galleries.

The Aug. 21-Sept. 14 show features the work of 23 permanent faculty members from the School of Art and Art History’s department of art, including work of numerous artists with international reputations in a range of mediums. The exhibition includes new work in ceramics, painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography and digital media.

The University Galleries is kicking off the season with a public reception bash 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 24, complete with food and live music from Holopaw in the College of Fine Arts courtyard. Guests can also wander across the courtyard to the neighboring Focus Gallery, which will display the MFA thesis exhibition of printmaker Mary Tillman.

The faculty exhibition includes work from artists Linda Arbuckle, Max Becher, Jerry Cutler, Lauren Garber, Katerie Gladdys, Richard Heipp, Anna Callouri Holcombe, Connie Hwang, Wes Kline, Arnold Mesches, Sean Miller, Julia Morrisroe, Robert Mueller, Barbara Jo Revelle, Andre Robbins, Celeste Roberge, Maria Rogal, Brian Slawson, Bradley R. Smith, Nan Smith, Sergio Vega, Jack Stenner and Bethany Taylor.
