UF School of Theatre and Dance presents new production from Shadow Dance Theatre

July 11, 2007

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Shadow Dance Theatre, now in its sixth summer season of thought-provoking original work at the University of Florida, offers “Vintage,” a compelling new production, Aug. 2-5.

With this performance director Ric Rose, a professor in the College of Fine Arts School of Theatre and Dance, creates a production that challenges the audience to ponder the shadow aspects of beauty. “Vintage” puts the origins of attractiveness into motion to pose the question of what makes some things — a person, a piece of art, or a work of horror — stand out as magnificent.

Rose directs “Vintage” in the Black Box Theatre at the Nadine McGuire Theatre and Dance Pavilion on the University of Florida campus. The entire production is conceived and directed by Rose who works with his cast of dancers and actors to create an innovative and physical form of storytelling.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. Aug. 2-4 and 2 p.m. Aug. 5. Reserved tickets for the show are $9 for students, faculty, staff and senior citizens with valid ID, and $13 for the general public.

The theatre is air-conditioned and handicapped accessible. For tickets and information, call the University Box Office at 352-392-1653 or reserve them online at www.ticketmaster.com.
