July 17, 2007

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Lionel J. Dubay, director of the O’Connell Center for 22 years, has been appointed director of the business services division at the University of Florida.

Dubay replaces Jim Morgan who retired in January. A national search was conducted to replace him. The search committee reviewed more than 100 applications and interviewed six candidates.

In his new position, Dubay will be responsible for overseeing the operational, fiscal, programmatic and administrative activities of eight auxiliary departments that comprise the business services division. The division has a budget of $68 million and a staff of more than 100 full-time employees plus an additional 300 contract management employees. Departments include ID Card Services, Gator Dining Services, Mail & Document Services, Transportation & Parking Services, and the University of Florida Bookstores, among other areas.

Prior to coming to the University of Florida, Dubay was director of the Augusta Civic Center in Augusta, Maine – a facility he opened in 1972.

During the International Association of Assembly Managers (IAAM) 82nd Annual Conference and Trade Show, starting Saturday in Salt Lake City, Dubay will be presented with its highest honor, the Charles A. McElravy Award, for his meritorious service and extraordinary contributions to the association and the public assembly facility management profession. He has served IAAM as chairman of numerous committees and boards as well as president in 2001-2002.
