Open house marks reopening of Hub

April 17, 2007

An open house with live entertainment and refreshments will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. April 20 in the Hub to celebrate the building’s $10.8 million renovation and reopening.

With the renovation supported in part by Student Government, the Hub offers students a number of services from e-mail, walk-up portals, videoconferencing and computer help through the Office of Academic Technology to individual counseling for students considering study abroad programs through the International Center.

The building also features a 10,000-square-foot open Internet area with wireless access, a Starbucks, and group and individual study rooms.

To mark the opening, the Brazilian band Jacaré will perform at UF with a musician in Brazil playing in conjunction with the live concert at UF. The performance will be synchronized using the new videoconferencing service.

President Bernie Machen and Student Body President John Boyles are scheduled to speak at the dedication ceremony. All students, faculty and staff are invited to stop by and explore the new Hub.
