Harn Museum hosts Alachua County Student Art Exhibition

April 16, 2007

GAINESVILLE, Fla. –– Works of art by young artists from Alachua County public schools will be exhibited April 19 to May 12 in the Harn Museum of Art’s Chandler Auditorium. A reception honoring the talented students will be held at 7 p.m. April 26.

The Alachua County Student Art Exhibition, held each spring at the Harn Museum, is the culmination of the academic year’s creative efforts. The artwork reflects the use of Harn Museum resources in the classroom, guided visits to the museum and visits to the schools by Harn Museum education staff and docents.

Partial funding for school visits to the Harn Museum of Art is provided by the School Board of Alachua County through a grant from the State of Florida, Florida Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Arts Council.

The Harn Museum engages local youth in art-related activities, offering children’s studio classes in the Goforth Learning Center, themed Family Days with hands-on art activities and Tot Times for children ages 2 to 5.

Admission to the Harn Museum of Art is free. For more information about school and educational programs at the Harn Museum or available viewing hours for the exhibition, contact Christine Brundige at 352-392-9826 or by e-mail at cbrundige@harn.ufl.edu.
