Dig for treasure during Museum Nights at the Fla. Museum March 22

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Dig for treasure, participate in demonstrations of geological phenomena and watch gem-cutting demonstrations with the University of Florida Department of Geological Sciences and Gainesville Gem and Mineral Society from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday during Museum Nights at the Florida Museum of Natural History. “Can You Dig It?” will provide a fun-filled exploration of rocks, gems, fossils and Earth for all ages.

“Museum Nights” are sponsored by UF Student Government and held most Thursday evenings while UF is in session at the Florida Museum and Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art.

Other upcoming special event nights at the Florida Museum this semester include “Butterfly Night” on April 5, featuring the award-winning Butterfly Rainforest exhibit, and “Starry Night: The Birth of the Stars and Planets,” April 12, co-sponsored by the UF Astronomy Department and Alachua Astronomy Club.
