UF piano faculty member to give recital

GAINESVILLE, FL — Boaz Sharon, professor of the University of Florida School of Music and head of the piano department, will hold a recital at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan.18, at the University Auditorium.

This free concert is open to public. The program includes solo piano works by Liszt, Schubert, Sorcerer’s Apprentice by the French composer Paul Dukas (solo piano version) and George Gershwin’s own piano transcription of Rhapsody in Blue.

A world-renowned pianist, Sharon will teach the Russia International Masterclasses at the Composers’ House of Creativity in early February. Later in the year, he will perform in recitals and in piano masterclasses in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Guangzhou, China. Sharon was appointed as visiting professor of piano at the Shenyang Conservatory in China.
