Graduate dean candidates to give presentations

Five candidates for the University of Florida Graduate School dean position will be on campus in January for interviews and presentations. All candidates will make a public presentation on their vision for graduate education, with a reception following their presentations. Following is a brief description of the candidates and information on the time, date and location of their presentations:

  • Robert A. Frank, interim University Dean of the Graduate School of the University of Cincinnati, will be on the UF campus Jan. 10 and 11. Frank holds a doctorate in experimental psychology from the University of Cincinnati. His presentation is scheduled for 4 p.m., Jan. 10, in 103 Dauer Hall, Keene Faculty Center.
  • Deba Dutta, a former director of the division of graduate education at the National Science Foundation and now an NSF adviser while on leave as a professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Michigan, will visit Jan. 11 and 12. Dutta holds a doctorate in industrial engineering from Purdue University. His presentation will take place at 4 p.m., Jan. 11, in Room 404 of the Reitz Student Union.
  • Jeryl Mumpower, a professor of public administration and policy at the University of Albany (SUNY), and former dean of the graduate school there, will visit Jan. 16 and 17. Mumpower holds a doctorate in social and quantitative psychology from the University of Colorado-Boulder. His presentation will take place at 4 p.m., Jan. 16, in 103 Dauer Hall, Keene Faculty Center.
  • Henry Frierson, a professor of educational psychology and former associate dean of the graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will be at UF Jan. 18 and 19. Frierson holds a doctorate in educational psychology from Michigan State University. His presentation is scheduled for 4 p.m., Jan. 18, in 103 Dauer Hall, Keene Faculty Center.
  • Maresi Nerad, associate dean of the graduate school and director of the Center for Innovation and Research in Graduate Education at the University of Washington, will visit Jan. 22 and 23. Nerad holds a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of California-Berkeley. Her presentation will take place at 4 p.m., Jan. 22, in 103 Dauer Hall, Keene Faculty Center.
