Eroica Trio to perform at UF

January 24, 2007

GAINESVILLE, FL –– The critically acclaimed and internationally known Eroica Trio will appear at the University Auditorium at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11.

Taking their name from Beethoven’s passionate Third Symphony, the Eroica Trio is one of the most sought after trios in the world. As one of the first all female chamber music groups to reach the highest echelon of their field, the Eroica Trio brings a hip and innovative approach to classical music.

Since winning the prestigious Naumburg Award in 1991, which was followed by their Lincoln Center debut, the trio has toured the United States, Europe and Asia. Besides maintaining a demanding touring schedule, the Eroica Trio has released six critically acclaimed recordings for Angel/EMI Classics, earning multiple Grammy nominations. The Eroica Trio performs Beethoven’s Triple Concerto more frequently than any other trio in the world, and has appeared with the symphonies of Chicago, St. Louis, San Francisco, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Houston and Seattle.

Along with concert appearances, Eroica has appeared on a number of TV programs including ABC’s “The View,” CNN’s “Showbiz Today,” the “CBS Morning Show,” “The Isaac Mizrahi Show” and A&E’s “Breakfast with the Arts.” Eroica!, a documentary on the trio and their commissioning of a new work by Kevin Kaska, premiered on the PBS series “Independent Lens” in 2003. The group also has been featured in magazines such as Elle, Glamour, Chamber Music, Cigar, Strings and Bon Appétit.
