Employers offer advice for job-seeking students

January 16, 2007

Gainesville, Fla –– Job-seeking students who want to be better prepared for Career Showcase interviews may wish to consider attending a series of workshops designed with that goal in mind. “How to Become Employable for the World of Work” will take place from 1 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 17, in the Reitz Student Union and will feature a number of sessions from making a good first impression to writing a winning resume. Employers will be on hand at the workshops to offer their advice to students.

“Preparation is key,” said Eric Hall, assistant director for employer relations at the Career Resource Center. “To hear things from the employers firsthand makes the Career Showcase more meaningful while giving students a behind-the-scenes feel.”

The workshops will be held in Room 361. Workshop topics and their times are:

*The Power of First Impressions, 1-1:45 p.m.
*Looking in All the Right Places, 2-2:45 p.m.
*Interview Do’s and Don’ts, 3–3:45 p.m.
*Writing a Winning Resume, 4-4:45 p.m.
