Florida Museum hosts free student music variety show

November 27, 2006

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Museum of Natural History will host a student music variety show during the last Museum Nights of the fall semester from 5 to 10 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 30. Musical acts include two marimba ensembles, a number of student solos and the University of Florida Sedoctaves, who perform a cappella arrangements of old and new songs.

Museum Nights is a collaboration funded by UF Student Government that allows the Florida Museum of Natural History and Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art to remain open late on Thursday evenings. Museum Nights strives to increase student and community visitation at the UF Cultural Plaza, near the intersection of Southwest 34th Street and Hull Road. It serves as an entertainment alternative for Thursday nights in Gainesville and offers individuals who are too busy during the day the opportunity to visit the museums in the evening. For more information and a complete schedule, visit the UF Student Government Web site, www.sg.ufl.edu.
