Nearly 400 employers slated to attend Career Showcase

GAINESVILLE, Fla — The Career Resource Center will host Fall 2006 Career Showcase from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, and Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the O’Connell Center.

The event is an opportunity for University of Florida undergraduate and graduate students to start seeking internships and job opportunities. PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, General Electric, Tropicana, the CIA and Publix Supermarkets are among the 397 organizations that are registered to attend the Career Showcase.

Here is the schedule:

Sept. 18: Employers seeking candidates for accounting, banking, communications, management, retail or sales positions.

Sept. 19: Employers seeking candidates for various engineering disciplines, information systems, scientific research, etc.

The Career Resource Center is hosting the following events to help prepare students for their internship or job search:

“How to Become Employable for the World of Work,” 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, Reitz Student Union, Room 282.

“Extreme Resume Workover,” 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sept. 11-15, Career Resource Center.
Bring a typed resume for a brief one-on-one critique session. No appointment needed.

“Polishing Your Resume Clinic,” 1 to 4 p.m., Sept. 15, Career Resource Center.
Resumes will be critiqued by employers pertaining to job function and major.

“Diversity Connections,” 3:30 to 4:50 p.m., Sept. 18, O’Connell Center, Gate 4. Food and entertainment provided by representatives of companies attending Career Showcase. Business casual attire is recommended. Resumes are not required, but highly encouraged.
