Summer commencement ceremonies scheduled for Saturday

WHAT: University of Florida summer commencement ceremonies

WHO: About 1,079 students are expected to participate in three ceremonies, based on regalia orders as of Aug. 1. They represent about 39 percent of the 2,780 students who are receiving bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.

WHEN AND WHERE: 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday in the O’Connell Center.
Students from the following colleges will participate in the morning ceremony: education, journalism and communications, liberal arts and sciences, nursing, public health and health professions. Graduate degrees in the colleges of dentistry, medicine and veterinary medicine also will be awarded.
Students in the following schools and colleges will participate in the afternoon ceremony: accounting, agricultural and life sciences, building construction, business administration, design, construction and planning, engineering, fine arts, forest resources and conservation, natural resources and environment, health and human performance.
A separate ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. for the College of Pharmacy in the Health Professions, Nursing and Pharmacy (HPNP) Auditorium.

PROGRAMS: The student speaker at the 10 a.m. ceremony is Daphne Lynn Charles. Outstanding Student Leader Awards will be presented to Daphne Lynn Charles and Christopher Ferrante. The student speaker at the 2 p.m. ceremony is Jennifer R. Bonds. Charles Kibert will receive the President’s Medallion for being selected as the university’s 2005-2006 Teacher/Scholar of the Year; and Frank “Sonny” Williamson Jr. will receive the Distinguished Alumnus Award.
