Schools superintendent to speak at breakfast meeting

What: Community Campus Council Breakfast Series

Who: Dr. Dan Boyd, superintendent of Alachua County Schools, will present “Strong Schools for a Strong Community: School Facilities and the Sales Tax Initiative.” According to Boyd, a lack of funding has left many of Alachua County’s public school facilities in serious need of work, and the problems will only become more extensive and expensive unless they are addressed.

Boyd will discuss the district’s facilities needs and the launching of an initiative to generate community support for a half-cent sales tax.

When: 7:30 a.m., April 12, 2006

Where: Arredondo Room, Reitz Student Union, 4th Floor, University of Florida

The presentation is open to the public, but the breakfast buffet is $5 and is payable at the door.
