Comedian Margaret Cho to perform April 11 at the O’Connell Center

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Margaret Cho, comedian and actress, will perform at 8 p.m. April 11 at the O’Connell Center at the University of Florida. Doors open at 7 p.m. Bruce Daniels will be the featured opening act. There will not be a press conference for this show. This show is free and open to the public and is cosponsored by Pride Awareness Month and Pride Student Union.

Cho started performing at age 16 in a comedy club and soon after won a contest where first prize was opening for Jerry Seinfeld. Cho recently received a First Amendment Award from the ACLU of Southern California. She has also been honored by GLAAD, American Women in Radio and Television, the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF), the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF) and the National Organization for Women (NOW) for “making a significant difference in promoting equal rights for all, regardless of race, sexual orientation or gender identity.”

Pride Awareness Month, a program of the Pride Student Union, was established with the mission and goal to educate students, faculty and staff at the University of Florida about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning and allied members of society. Throughout April, Pride Awareness Month strives to achieve its mission and goals by bringing leaders that represent a diverse spectrum of the LGBTQA community.
