U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor to speak on UF Law campus Friday

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor will speak at the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law Friday, Sept. 9, during dedication ceremonies for the law school’s new facilities.

O’Connor — along with UF President Bernie Machen, Levin College of Law Dean Robert Jerry and other dignitaries — will address close to 1,000 UF alumni, faculty and staff at the dedication of the new Lawton Chiles Legal Information Center at 11 a.m.

Space is available for a limited number of media representatives. Tickets can be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.

Due to limited space, we ask that media outlets request tickets only if they are sure they will cover the event. Please note that O’Connor will not give individual interviews, and there will not be a question-and-answer session. All guests, including the media, must have a valid ticket to be allowed access to the event, and must pass through a security checkpoint and submit to a search.

Media representatives should show up at 10:30 a.m. to set up before the dedication begins. Parking restrictions will be lifted in the law school parking lots during the event.

A satellite feed of O’Connor’s remarks will be available at the coordinates SBS 6 Transponder 17 from 2:30-2:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, and still photographs and a release will be available upon request from the UF College of Law Communications Office after the event.
