GAINESVILLE, Fla. — John Klauder, a professor of physics and mathematics at the University of Florida, has been elected to the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters, within the class of natural sciences. The society’s purpose is to promote and recognize excellence in scholarship.

Membership in the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters, which was founded in 1760, is by election only. The total number of members in the Society is set at 340, with 140 members from the humanities and 200 members from the natural sciences. Foreign citizens who are elected to the society must be acknowledged leaders in their fields and should preferably have connections with Norway through their research.
