Program on Nero's wives slated for Oct. 18 at Oak Hammock

On Oct. 18, the Gainesville Society, Archaeological Institute of America, and the Department of Classics at the University of Florida will present "The Incredible, Vanishing Wives of Nero: Recovering History that Someone Has Tried to Erase" by Susan Wood, professor art history at Oakland University.

The presentation starts at 8 p.m. at Oak Hammock at the University of Florida, Williston Road and Southwest 25th Terrace.

Wood is the author of "Imperial Women: A Study in Public Images, 40 B.C. – A.D. 68 (2000, Brill Academic Publishers)" and is currently at work on a second volume, which will deal with the women of the next two dynasties of Roman history.

The presentation is free and open to the public.
