British comedian brings one-man show to Phillips Center Black Box Theatre Oct. 18-19

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Award-winning British comedian Dave Gorman brings his hit one-man show, “Dave Gorman’s Googlewhack! Adventure,” to the Phillips Center Black Box Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, and 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19.

“Dave Gorman’s Googlewhack! Adventure” premiered at the 2003 Melbourne Comedy Festival, where it was nominated for the prestigious Barry Humphries Award. The same year, it broke records at the Sydney Opera House, sold out all 12,000 tickets in four days at the Edinburgh Festival, and went on to sell out a 73-date tour of the United Kingdom. The show won the 2004 HBO U.S. Comedy Festival Jury Award for Best One Person Show, was a smash hit at the 2004 Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, and enjoyed an 11-week run in New York City, where it received a 2005 Drama Desk Award nomination.

Gorman has written extensively for television and has appeared on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno, “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “Today,” “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” and Dennis Miller.

General admission tickets are $25.

Patrons will not be admitted to this performance if they are more than 10 minutes late. Tickets are not refundable for late patrons.

$10 student tickets are available for students. Students must purchase tickets in person with student ID at the Phillips Center Box Office or at University Box Office in the Reitz Union. Each student may purchase only one student ticket per performance, for himself or herself only. Student tickets are based on availability.

The Phillips Center Box Office is open noon to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday.
