September 20, 2005

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Florida’s Homecoming will recognize faculty at the annual Education Celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the Keene Faculty Center in Dauer Hall.

The Education Celebration is open to all University of Florida faculty and coincides with UF Teacher’s Appreciation Day. The event is designed to thank the faculty of the University of Florida for their hard work and diligence throughout the year and to encourage school spirit for our Gator Nation Homecoming activities. The event includes guest speaker Grant Thrall from the Department of Geography, along with entertainment, food and drinks. The six recipients of the Florida Blue Key Distinguished Faculty award will be announced at Education Celebration.

This year, the Interfraternity Council and the Panhellenic Council are sponsoring the Education Celebration.

“Education Celebration is a great opportunity to honor UF faculty and celebrate our Gator Nation together,” Ashley Hinton education celebration director said.

The 2005 Homecoming celebration Oct. 3-7 ends with the largest student-run pep rally in the nation, Gator Growl.

Florida Blue Key was founded in 1923 at the University of Florida; it is the oldest and most prestigious leadership honorary within Florida.
