Finalists for 2005 Homecoming Queen chosen Monday night

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The three finalists for the 2005 Homecoming Queen at the University of Florida were announced Monday night from among the 31 women seeking the title.

They are Catherine Hough, Anne Imanuel and Cat Jackson.

Hough is a 21-year-old senior majoring in microbiology and cell science with a minor in history. She is a member of Florida Blue Key, Alpha Delta Pi sorority, a J. Wayne Reitz Scholar and a recipient of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Hough has also been involved in numerous organizations on campus and in the community.

Imanuel is a 21-year-old senior majoring in telecommunications with an emphasis in news and a minor in theater. She is the president of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, a member of Florida Blue Key and has anchored the local radio news program, “All Things Considered” and the daily TV news “News 5 at 5:30.” Imanuel was named a 2004 Anderson Scholar with Highest Distinction and has been involved with many other UF organizations.

Jackson is a 21-year-old senior majoring in English with a minor in business administration. She is a member of Florida Blue Key, Alpha Delta Pi sorority, a J. Wayne Reitz Scholar and a recipient of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Jackson was an international student at the University of Cambridge in England this past summer and has been involved with a variety of organizations on UF’s campus.

The Homecoming Queen will be announced on Oct. 7 during Gator Growl, the world’s largest student run pep rally.

The 31 women competing for Homecoming Queen participated in formal interviews, casual wear and formal wear. The scores were also based on campus and community involvement. Six finalists answered a question about ways they will continue to support the Gator Nation once they finish their formal education.

Other winners include Miss Photogenic Julia Weiss and Miss Congeniality Rebecca Gaff.

The Homecoming Pageant sponsored by Florida Blue Key took place Monday night at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

The 2005 Homecoming celebration takes place Oct. 3-7 ending with the largest student run pep rally in the nation, Gator Growl.
