August 23, 2005

Gordon “Stumpy” Harris, founder of the law firm of Harris, Harris, Bauerle & Sharma, was recently named chairman of the Gator Booster Capital Campaign Committee at the University of Florida.

Marking the 100th anniversary of Gator football which began in 1906, the committee aims to raise funds to endow all athletic scholarships and improve athletic facilities. Stumpy believes this goal will be reached within the next seven years set aside for the campaign.

“Our campaign is based on the fact that the teams who have the most invested usually win,” said Harris, who has been a Gator season ticket holder for half a century. “We simply want to assume that Gator fans are the most invested in the Country. We believe that Gator fans are the top 1 percent of the top 1 percent and will prove it during the next seven years.”

Harris is a graduate of the University of Florida and has been practicing law in Central Florida for nearly 40 years. He is recognized as one of the state’s top eminent domain and property rights attorneys.
