Digital Worlds Institute links five continents in live international collaboration
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida’s Digital Worlds Institute is showcasing its capabilities to bridge five continents and cultures by presenting an unprecedented real-time global collaboration entitled “In Common: TIME” in Los Angeles through Aug. 4 at the world’s largest computer art and interactivity conference.
“In Common: TIME” is part of an ongoing collaborations internationally, with the New World School of the Arts (NWSA) in Miami and with UF Colleges of Fine Arts and Engineering. It also incorporates Fine Arts students from the PK Yonge Laboratory School and the Millhopper Montessori School in Gainesville.
“In Common: TIME” features performers ranging in age from 11 to 68, and multiple people in multiple locations to come together “live” in a shared virtual environment, creating a truly global team that can assemble for a cross-cultural performance.
Audiences in Gainesville, Florida can observe and participate in the event today at 7 p.m. and 7:30 pm. on the UF campus at the Digital Worlds Institute’s Research, Education and Visualization Environment (REVE).
