Construction, parade to affect some RTS bus routes

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Fifth Avenue Holiday Parade and construction will affect some RTS bus service, stating this weekend.

Beginning Friday, Routes 1, 25 and 46 will be detoured due to construction on SW Second Avenue. Patrons may catch these routes on SW Fourth Avenue as an alternative. Construction is expected to be complete by Dec. 21. Once the roadway is reopened, the routes will resume their normal pattern.

On Saturday, Route 6 will be detoured because of the Fifth Avenue Holiday Parade. Route 6 will head straight up North Main Street and then west on NW Eighth Avenue and continue its normal operation. The detour is expected to last between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
