SNL’s Seth Meyers coming to UF March 22
GAINESVILLE, FLa. — ACCENT Speaker’s Bureau at the University of Florida today announced an upcoming show featuring Seth Meyers at 8 p.m. March 22 at the O’Connell Center.
The comedian and actor is best known for his role as head writer and “Weekend Update” anchor on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.”
Meyers’ career as a comedian started while attending Northwestern University when he became part of the “Mee-Ow” improv troupe. He also did some work for Chicago’s Improv Olympic Theater. This led him to a career in an Amsterdam-based group, “Boom Chicago,” and eventually to SNL in 2001.
Along with SNL, he has also appeared in various movies throughout the last few years, including “Journey to the Center of the Earth” and “See This Movie.”
Meyers was the 2010 and 2011 host of the “ESPY Awards” on ESPN, where one of ACCENT’s past speakers, Dewey Bozella, won an award. Meyers was also a guest speaker at the 2011 White House Press Correspondents Dinner.
Meyers will be performing a stand-up routine at UF followed by a question-and-answer session.
Doors open at 7 p.m., and admission is free and open to the public. Seating is first-come, first-served. No tickets are necessary.
