UF survey: Florida consumer confidence jumps in December

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Consumer confidence among Floridians rose three points to 69 in December, reflecting a cautious optimism in the economy, according to a recent University of Florida survey. Though the latest figure is only one point below the level set in December 2010, it also marks the highest rank in the past nine months.

Sexual Battery Suspect Arrested

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The suspect in the November sexual battery of a University of Florida student has been positively identified as 25-year-old Tommie Howard III, of Hawthorne, Fla.

Resurfacing, median improvements on Archer Road to begin Jan. 3

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Work is scheduled to begin in early January on a Florida Department of Transportation project to resurface Archer Road west of Interstate 75.

Workshops planned on how to use new interim Web design templates

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — In November 2011, the University of Florida’s Web governance committee authorized an interim “refresh” of the UF homepage design. This design is slated for use through spring 2012.
