Giant squid

University of Florida researcher Roger Portell injects preservative into a 25-foot-long giant squid Monday night. Recreational fisherman found the rare deep-water species floating near the surface about 12 miles off the coast of Jensen Beach Sunday. Scientists from the Florida Museum of Natural History on the UF campus collected the squid Monday from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission research laboratory near Stuart.
