Consumer confidence unchanged among Floridians in December

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida’s consumer confidence this month remained unchanged from November’s mark of 71, but there was significant movement among the five components that comprised the index, according to a new University of Florida survey.

UF School of Theatre and Dance presents ‘The Grapes of Wrath’

Strawberry genome-sequence will lead to better fruit for consumers

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — An international team of scientists led by the University of Florida and Virginia Tech is the first to publish the DNA sequence for the strawberry — a development expected to yield tastier, hardier varieties of the berry and other crops in its family.

Knight Foundation funds high-tech civics initiatives at UF’s Bob Graham Center

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida has one of the weakest civic cultures in the nation, ranking 46th among the 50 states, according to the National Conference on Citizenship. The Bob Graham Center for Public Service at the University of Florida is dedicated to improving the state’s civic health by training a new and more effective generation of public and civic leaders.

UF hepatologists test chemotherapy pill in patients with advanced liver cancer, cirrhosis

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Hepatologists at the University of Florida have begun a new clinical trial in search of a better way to treat patients who have advanced, inoperable primary liver cancer but have trouble tolerating standard doses of the only drug available to help them.
