$1.2 million gift helps bring UF Pharmacy campus to new Orlando-based Research and Academic Center

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A retired Orlando community pharmacist who donated $1.2 million to establish a University of Florida College of Pharmacy campus in Orlando will realize his dream Oct. 5 with the groundbreaking of the new UF Research and Academic Center in Lake Nona.

Compound discovered in Florida Keys shows early promise as colon cancer treatment

Cancer Fighting Compound

Roughly twelve million people each year face the difficult diagnosis of cancer. Now University of Florida researchers have discovered a natural compound called largazole, found in the waters off the Florida Keys. Largazole has already shown promising results fighting colon cancer cells.
