UF professor emeritus elected to National Academy of Sciences

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — H. Russell Bernard, professor emeritus of anthropology at the University of Florida, has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences.
He was among 72 new members and 18 foreign associates from 14 countries chosen in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research.

Drug exposure threatens health of women, children in Afghanistan, UF addiction experts say

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The health of many women and children in Afghanistan is at great risk because of passive exposure to heroin and other drugs, according to a new study commissioned by the U.S. Department of State and jointly led by two University of Florida drug addiction experts.
