Algae
In this photo released by the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, graduate student Dana Bigham demonstrates water sampling at Lake Alice on the UF campus — Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009. Bigham is part of a research team that checked almost 200 Florida lakes for microcystin, a toxin produced by some algae species. Almost three-quarters of the samples showed no detectable microcystin.
