Mixed Reality Human Photos

University of Florida computer engineering graduate student Aaron Kotranza demonstrates a breast exam on a “mixed reality human” composed of a mannequin with a prosthetic breast and a life-size computer avatar on a flat screen. The system, designed by UF engineers, helps train medical students not only how to correctly perform breast exams, but also how to talk to, and glean information from, the patient during the procedure. The mixed reality human also can describe and discuss her symptoms via a voice simulation system.
