GAINESVILLE, Fla. — University of Florida researchers used color-coded vials of DNA to compare the genetic instructions for making a flower in an avocado tree (Persea americana), pictured, with Arabidopsis thaliana, a small flowering plant commonly used as a model organism in plant genetics research.
