Mosquito stats

In this file photo released from the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, Alan Curtis of the Indian River Mosquito Control District uses his legs as bait in order to gauge the number of biting mosquitoes present after Hurricane David in 1979. Curtis has been using such “landing counts” for more than three decades, and says mosquitoes this year are as numerous as ever in many parts of Florida.
