Fish venting
As of June 1, 2008, new regulations will require anglers fishing for reef fish off Florida’s Gulf Coast to carry venting tools along with circle hooks and dehooking tools. As shown here, a venting tool is a needle that, when inserted into a deep-water fish, allows gas inside the body cavity to escape so that the fish can return to its home depth.
