Fla. Museum seeks volunteers for Newberry fossil dig

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Museum of Natural History Vertebrate Paleontology Division is looking for volunteers to assist with fossil collecting at a major site discovered in 2005 in a limestone quarry northeast of Newberry.

Gatorade creator Dr. Robert Cade dies Tuesday at age 80

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Dr. J. Robert Cade, the legendary University of Florida scientist who led the research team that gave the world Gatorade, died Tuesday at Shands at UF medical center. He was 80.

Dip in Florida’s consumer confidence likely to hurt holiday retail sales

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida’s consumer confidence dropped two points to 77 in November, portending lackluster sales for the holiday retail season, a new University of Florida study finds.
