In this photo released from the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, entomology doctoral student Susan Gruner checks a colony of blow fly maggots feeding on calf liver at a laboratory on UF’s main campus in Gainesville – Thursday, July 19, 2007. Gruner is studying the maggots’ growth rate at various temperatures. The research could someday help murder investigations, because experts can estimate a person’s time of death by examining maggots found on the body.
