National grant supports architecture student scholarships

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The American Institute of Architects has awarded the AIA Gainesville chapter a matching grant of $2,500 to support emerging leaders in the profession through a joint AIA scholarship opportunity. The grant will support AIA Gainesville’s “North Florida Chapter – AIA Endowed Scholarship” established to provide scholarships to University of Florida architecture graduate students who demonstrate superior academic achievement.

UF study: Asian swamp eel little threat to state’s $60 million aquaculture industry

RUSKIN, Fla. — The Asian swamp eel has been described as a voracious predator of fish that could threaten Florida’s $60 million aquarium fish industry, but the exotic eel is not a major problem after all, according to a new University of Florida study.
