Doctors diagnose head and neck cancer in more than 40,000 Americans each year. But some patients may be going under the knife unnecessarily - their lymph nodes are often healthy. Now University of Florida experts have developed a way to assess early CT scans to predict whether lymph nodes in the neck are cancer-free and can be spared from surgery.
