Orkin Termite Training Facility
Faith Oi, an assistant extension scientist at the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences in Gainesville, holds a structural beam damaged by termites, Thursday Oct. 6, 2005. Oi is project coordinator of the new Orkin Termite Training Facility that will be located at UF’s Mid-Florida Research and Education Center in Apopka. Construction of the facility — first of its kind in Florida — will begin in 2006, with completion expected by the end of the year. The O. Wayne Rollins Foundation in Atlanta contributed $150,000 to help establish the facility.
