
Irena Schwedeman, a chemistry grad student at the University of Florida, examines an electrochromic polymer film that changes color when subjected to an electrical charges. UF researchers have developed a new family of the films that may soon be used to make windows change from transparent to opaque at the touch of a button and greeting cards that display flashing messages.
